I am bad!!

I have not been posting like I want to.

No excuses...

But if you want them,
I've been trying to clean up the house (spotlessly), get my room ready for school, get my head ready for school, get in some quick "fun" "summer" activities, etc.

I have, however, been taking pictures at school. I'm going again tomorrow to work. Then I'll be all ready to do a cute post.

Meanwhile, if anyone actually reads this, keep reading my sister's WONDERFUL blog, blondeambitionklh.blogspot.com.

That is all. :)

It shouldn't come as any surprise...

"Not that the troubles should come as any surprise to you.
You've always known that we're in for this kind of thing. It's part of our calling." -from 1 Thessalonians 3 (The Message)

Our message at church on Sunday was about how Satan is alive, real, and at work. It is his purpose to destroy- destroy our joy, our relationships, our circumstances. And he's good at it. He knows what brings us down, what makes us made, and what we just can't tolerate. He knows our breaking point.

Luckily, though it's no act of luck, Satan doesn't even compare to the wonderfulness of Almighty God. We need to seek out God through prayer and scripture..so that we'll be able to recognize...and stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

Life will take its toll. Things will not go as planned. As Paul says, this shouldn't come as any surprise to us. We've got to be on guard for these things, and be ready to combat them with scripture.

So, back at Satan I come with this:

It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God!

58With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don't hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort. -1 Cor 15

There's nothing the devil hates more than God and scripture. :)

And there's nothing that God loves more than His children seeking Him and standing firm against the enemy.

OWLS

I'll be back soon w/ a more in-depth post w/ some pics...but I've had an epiphany. I have already decorated a bulletin board and my door with my theme "Splashing into 1st Grade"....but that is no longer my theme. I wanted something we could "be". Something that I could incorporate into all different parts of my classroom....Introducing...
Mrs. Evans' Owls!
First Grade is a hoot!
Hoot hoot hooray for first grade!
Whoooo's in our class this year?
I've already found some cute name tags, stickers, and owls to put their names on outside my classroom. I've renamed my newsletter "The Wise Owl Weekly". I'm loving it!

I'll post some pics soon! My husband thinks my owl obsession is a little nutty- but I'm going with it!

Be back soon!

My new loves

Tuesday and Wednesday I went on a little getaway with my parents and sister. We went to an outlet mall and I made two wonderful purchases.

I haven't had a pair of running/athletic shoes in a while. I found this beautiful pair for almost half price at Adidas! And I tried them out this morning with my workout video for an hour--and they went the distance! I love a dark shoe--I can't keep white ones clean. I LOVE THEM!

And here is my new COACH bag! I am all about a bargain at Ross or TJ Maxx... but I do love a Coach bag...I got this one at a real bargain!! It's the perfect size..large enough to fit my stuff, but small enough to not totally kill my shoulder. Classic. Adorable.

I LOVE a great deal! Have you found any sweet deals lately?

MMmmm blueberries..

So for going on weeks now I have been dying to go to a local farm and pick berries! My mom and I finally went yesterday. By this point in the season they had blueberries and blackberries for picking. We decided to just pick blueberries.

It turned out to be the perfect day for picking. It was really overcast and had just rained the night before, so it was cool and breezy. We did NOT count on getting as wet as we did though..the bushes were full of water...and, of course, the best berries were in the MIDDLE. :)

We ended up picking almost 8 lbs. And, we really had to make ourselves stop. They were so big and gorgeous.

Having fun picking berries

Some were just starting to ripen- but there were PLENTY of beautiful blue ones to be picked!

Mom picking

Filling up our bucket!

Yum!

And today I went and bought a pie plate! I'm going to try my hand at blueberry pie making. And blueberry pancake making. And blueberry muffin making (from scratch). And blueberry eating with strawberries and whipped cream. Yum!

Card Making

Summer has given me some time to do some of the things I love to do. One of them being card making. Lots of the things I use to make cards are from Stampin Up, while others are from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I was getting low on birthday and just general note cards, so here is what I created!

Don't you love the fun colors of the gumball machine. The front says "Wishing you the sweetest day ever!"

And here's a group shot! I usually make a set of the same design.

I made this one with a recipient in mind. Our friends from church are expecting a little boy at the end of July. I just need to add the greeting to the front!

"A little birdie told me..." Then on the inside I can stamp the words that go with the occasion.

I love these!! I actually used scrapbook paper to make these. I love cupcakes!! It's hard to tell in the picture, but the cupcake in the circle has glitter on it. Glitter makes everything better.

Sweet giraffe

Sorry it's sideways! A funny monkey!

I love the turtle.

I love these cards because they are just simply that..a card that can be used for any occasion or "just because".

How adorable is that owl??

More cupcakes!!

Are you still there? I had to include all I've made so far. I just couldn't choose. It's so much fun..and really anyone can do it- you just need a little inspiration! :) Now my stockpile is up again!
